Following the opening night of the Timberly Troopers’ musical, The Undertaker’s Melody, Dorothy and her crazy husband Charlie, host a cast party. The guest list includes a bad ventriloquist, a legendary leading man (at least in his own mind), a future Hollywood starlet, an over-bearing “ham” (and his wife), a former love interest, and a well-known theater critic. Dreams, loves, successes, and failures are all explored with varying degrees of humor and self-discovery.

Jenny is a young jazz violinist pleased with her life except for when it comes to men. Having calculated the number of nights spent alone since puberty, she scientifically approaches the question "Why not me?" The play comically explores Jenny's pursuit of a brooding bass player she mistakenly assumes is Mr. Right, and her futile attempts to chart out her inner conflicts, all with the assistance of a chorus of players who portray 52 other characters in Jenny's world. A modern-day one-sided love story and a hilarious and irreverent tour de force of dating, courting and kvetching.

Catholic School Girls
Acme Theater of Maynard announces a change to it's final show of the 2006/2007 Season. Due to circumstances beyond our control Acme will not be able to present the musical Have A Nice Day at this time. In its place, Acme is thrilled to announce the quirky comedy Catholic School Girls by Casey Kurtti.
Catholic School Girls, directed by Dave Sheppard, is a delightful memory play of Catholic school life in the 1960's reflected in the eyes of four girls from the 1st through 8th grade at St. George's School in NY. Air raid drills, feminine hygiene, the Baltimore Catechism and Jesus' Jewish upbringing are all part of the curriculum. The versatility of these actresses shines as the girls grow and mature while sharing bonds of friendship and insecurity, reprimands from authority figures and pressures from home. Four additional actresses portray nuns at St. George’s – their watchful eyes at a school dance, a talent show and first communion a constant reminder of the potential for eternal damnation! A rollicking portrait of girls in plaid skirts and knee socks reaching the threshold of adolescence.
Featuring
Margaret McCarty, Gail Bishop Nessman, Anne Fruend and Barbara Douglas as the four young girls.
Anne Damon, Kate Blair, Shelly Wood and Tillie Sweet as the ever-present Nuns.
Production Dates: May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26. All shows at 8 pm except for 3 pm matinees on the 20th.
