ACME IMPROV COMPANY

Acme Improv Company is back with another fun-filled year of improvised hilarity! Come join us!

OUR COMPLETE 2022-2023 SCHEDULE

BACK TO SCHOOL
Friday, October 7, 2022
Directed by Kevin Nessman

This fall, America goes back to school. To celebrate this momentous event, ACME Improv Company (With a brand new cast!) takes you with us as we explore the ins and outs of public education. It is not just about your mother taking you out to buy pencils and a new denim skirt to look your best for the first day. No, it‘s about entering a building wearing that skirt and carrying those pencils. It’s about sitting in a crowded room at a small desk as the other girls stare at your denim skirt and smirk condescendingly. It’s about you realizing too late that those pencils are the wrong type for art class. It’s about your teacher telling you it is not OK to text your mother during class to tell her that she has ruined your life and that you have no friends anymore ALL BECAUSE OF HER!

In short, join ACME Improv as we take a deep, comprehensive dive into what Webster refers to as “institutions of learning”, exploring the ins and outs of our education system, pimples and all. And yes, there are pimples. We also take you behind the scenes into the administrator’s offices and teachers lounges as we grapple with that eternal question, “Will this be on the test?”

WINTER WONDERLAND
Friday, January 6, 2023

Directed by Gail Bishop Nessman

Join AIC on January 6 when we’ll both celebrate and denigrate our favorite and least favorite season: winter in New England. We’ll remember the Blizzard of ’78 (snow days as kids – YAY!) and the Blizzards of 2015 (snow days with kids – arghhh!).

We’ll commiserate with those who love winter. The sledding, skiing, and sweater-wearing. Curling up with a cup of cocoa as they gaze fondly out on a snowy landscape.

And sympathize with those who hit January and see just another two long months of dark, cold winter until the mud season, we mean, Spring, swearing they will one day move out of this God-forsaken environment to a place where 65 degrees is considered chilly.

Whichever type of person you are, we hope you will step giddily into the chilly night and/or brave the onslaught to join us!

MEDIEVAL TIMES!
Friday, March 17, 2023

Directed by Kate Forrestall and Jackie Daley

It was the best of times…it was the most medieval of times.

Join us for an evening of gothic art and architecture, knights, Crusades, and some wacky post-Roman Empire jokes. Yes, we’ll bring you right back to feelin’ like it’s 1356! And we ain’t jest(er)ing!
